Small Business Saturday: November 29

Saturday, November 29th is Small Business Saturday. Since 2010, American Express has promoted this event to underscore the importance of shopping at small and locally owned stores. One of the things that makes Tenleytown a vibrant area is our small businesses and restaurants. As a contrast to Black Friday and Cyber Monday which support large chains and online purchases, Small Business Saturday is a way to celebrate our treasured neighborhood businesses and include them in your holiday shopping plans. Many small businesses throughout the Tenleytown corridor will participate in this event.

Tree Lighting at CityRidge: November 22

CityRidge will hold their annual Tree Lighting Celebration this Saturday, November 22, from 4-8 pm. This has become a favorite tradition for families in the area. This year the event will include a singalong with the Children’s Chorus of Washington. Other family-friendly activities include holiday train rides, crafts, face painting, glitter tattoos, and letters to Santa. There will also be live music, giveaways, and roaming performers throughout the evening. Learn more and reserve a free spot at:

GDS Consent Summit: November 21-22

GDS will hold their 10th annual Consent Summit this weekend, bringing students and adults together to examine current laws, policies, and programs established to support survivors, advocate for rights, and prevent sexual violence. This important student-run event draws attendees from throughout the mid-Atlantic region and is open to local community members. This year’s keynote speaker is Nobel Peace Prize nominee, Time Woman of the Year, and survivor Amanda Nguyen. Events will take place this Friday, November 21 (5:00pm-8:30 pm) and Saturday, November 22 (8:30am-5 pm). Learn more and register to attend at: https://gdsconsentsummit2025.sched.com

GDS Community Cleanup

Earlier this month, GDS 6th and 9th grade students participated in a community cleanup. It was a great opportunity for the students to help make our community look better and to learn about what is needed to keep our neighborhood clean. Tenleytown Main Street recorded an informational video for the students to share how we partner with Career Path DC (our local clean team) to keep Tenleytown looking great.
